William Berry

A Memorial Service will be held at The Pinegrove Fellowship Church on Saturday, September 10th, 2022 at 11 AM. Located at 295 Taylor Rd, Bracebridge, ON, with a reception to follow.

It is with heartfelt sadness that our family mourns the passing of William John Berry at Muskoka Hills Retirement Villa in Bracebridge on Saturday April 23rd in his 89th year.

Born in Midland, Ontario on June 28th, 1933 to Ralph and Carolyn Berry, William was raised in Orillia. It was here that he met his future wife, Julia Ann Ferguson, whom he married on October 19, 1958. William and Julia resided in Orillia, Huntsville, Parry Sound and Bala, where William worked on the railway and in radio broadcasting until fulfilling his lifelong calling of becoming an ordained minister.  He was the pastor of Burgess Memorial Baptist Church in Bala throughout the 1990s, where his gentle character, sense of humour, and genuine desire to help individuals and families was indispensable to the community. Throughout his years, William was a steadfast support of his wife and sons, his broader family and friends and his community. His unwavering faith guided William throughout his life.

William leaves his sons Karl and Tom (Andrea); his cherished grandchildren Amy, Jordan (Katherine), Dustin (Shayla), and Alexis; and his great grandchildren, Aiden and Parker.  He also leaves his beloved sister Doris and twin sister Barbara (Doug) along with many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Billy. He leaves many friends in the various churches he led and attended over his life. William is predeceased by his wife, Julia, his brother Ralph, his sister Ilene, and his parents Ralph and Carolyn.

Many thanks are due to the compassionate nurses, personal support workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and doctors who supported Dad through his health journey at several hospitals in Muskoka, Toronto, Midland, and at the Muskoka Hills Retirement Villa.

A memorial service will take place in early fall at Pinegrove Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in William’s name to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
