Tracy Johnston

Tracy Louise Johnston passed away peacefully in Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021. Tracy was the daughter of the late Edith and Chester Johnston of Port Carling, and the longtime partner of Aubrey Klingbeil of Bracebridge.

Tracy was much loved by her sister Sheila Aitken (and her late husband, Allen Aitken), and by nephew Fred Aitken and nieces Cynthia Dubois (Jeff) and Janice Levesque (Serge). Tracy was a proud Great-Aunt to Christopher, Jennifer, Julia, Erin, Ethan, Evan, Alain and Nathalie, and took great pride in their accomplishments. Tracy will be missed by lifelong friend Sandy Tozer Spence and her family.

Tracy grew up in Port Carling, attending public school in Port Carling, Glen Orchard and Bala before graduating from Bracebridge & Muskoka Lakes Secondary School (BMLSS). Tracy’s interest in cooking led to a career in the food services/hospitality industry after attending Georgian College in Barrie. She especially enjoyed working at a variety of Muskoka resorts.

Aubrey was the love of her life and stood by her through thick and thin. Tracy loved Muskoka, and was proud of her Muskoka roots.

Tracy will be remembered as a passionate, curious person with a keen interest in people. She was a strong-willed free spirit with a twinkle in her eye who lived life to the fullest. Tracy had a strong appreciation for preserving wildlife and the environment. Furniture refinishing, watching hockey, gardening, movies and country drives were her passions.

Sadly, Tracy experienced several health issues in the last few years. But she always maintained a positive attitude, and fought hard to the end. Family and friends appreciate the loving care Tracy received at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. She will be remembered as someone who always had a smile and a hug for those she met and a laugh as big as all outdoors.

A small graveside memorial is planned this spring for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Canada or Soldier’s Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
