Nancy Mackinnon

It is with great sadness, and after her brave battle with cancer, that the family announces the passing of Nancy Frances Sinclair (MacKinnon) on April 11, 2021 in Bracebridge with family by her side.

Born in Toronto on August 20, 1960 with her twin sister Cathy. Nancy was predeceased by her parents William Henry Sinclair and Frances May Bell.

At an early age, Nancy was raised by her oldest sister and guardian Carol, as were other siblings.

Carol and husband Tom relocated her siblings to Muskoka in 1972 to provide a healthier environment for them to grow up in. Nancy is survived by husband and lifelong partner Wayne, son, Zac (Megan Loshaw), granddaughter, Avery, son, Michael (Jen David). Siblings, Carol (Tom Fair), Johnette (Jim Keay), Peter, Jack and Cathy. Survived by a number of nephews, nieces, great nephew and nieces, her Aunt Tess and many cousins.

Nancy loved her family. The family remained a source of inspiration for her during her illness and she received strength, love and happiness from their support, knowing she was never alone. Nancy had a love of the arts especially music. She enjoyed nature, outdoors and morning coffee in the sunshine. In earlier years she was actively involved in softball, skiing and swimming. Nancy was a dedicated hockey mom and loved watching her sons play. Zac and Michael were in her heart and thoughts always.

Nancy kept herself well informed about current world and local events and enjoyed discussing them with anyone who would listen!

Nancy’s only granddaughter Avery, brought her great joy and was able to spend some quality time with her in these last few months. The family is fortunate that sister Cathy was able to provide care and support in her home so Nancy could be with her family to share laughter and cherished memories.

The family would like to thank Doctor Kimberly Forester, Doctor Christiaan Stevens (RVH Barrie) and the staff at the South Muskoka Hospital for their continued and professional support.

In accordance with Nancy's wishes a private family funeral will be held at a later date.
