Michel 'Mike' Dallaire

December 18, 1955 — December 15, 2020

Washago, Ontario

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Michel Harve Dallaire announce his passing on December 15, 2020 at Andy's House Hospice, in Port Carling, Ontario. Mike passed just three days before his 65th birthday, after a short Battle with Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML).

Mike worked his entire adult life in the mining industry.  He began his career in Ignace, Ontario and then settled in Marathon, Ontario for the next 22 years where he worked at the Hemlo (Williams) Gold Mine. Mike then worked in Sudbury and Red Lake where he proudly worked alongside his son. After many years working at various mines in Canada's north, Mike ended his 42 year career (due to illness) at Canada's first electric mine in Chapleau, Ontario in 2018.  Mike made many friends along the way and many will remember  his fair and incredible work ethic. He was a man of true integrity!

Mike loved to hunt, fish, travel, camping and just sitting around a campfire. Mike and Judy loved to travel together and did so.  He loved spending time with his family. Whenever he came home he would always call out and ask" Where is my family?" Mike leaves his family with many fond and special memories.  He loved to sit at Orillia's waterfront and watch the boats go by. He had a smile that would warm your heart.  There was nothing that couldn't be fixed with his kindness and determination.  At the end of the day, If you were happy, Mike was happy!

Mike was born and raised in Blind River, Ontario; he was predeceased by his parents Herve and Dolores Dallaire and brother Reine.

Mike leaves to mourn his loving wife of 29 years Judy (nee Oxford), son Jonathan (Melissa) of Thunder Bay, ON, daughters Ashleigh (Jesse) Pitre of Marathon, ON and Rebecca (Ryan) of Washago, ON.  Five Grand Children: Paige, Hailey, Isaac, Spencer and Ella. Sister, Micheline (Raymond) of Blind River, ON, Brother, Victor (Maggie, predeceased) of Brooks, AB. Mike will be sorely missed by his extended family, Mother In Law,  Myrtle Oxford of Springdale, NL,  Barb (Rob) Clarke, of Springdale, NL, Edward (Diane) of GFW, NL, Pauline (Claude) Tucker of Orillia, ON, Ronald (Rosalyn) Oxford of Young's Cove, NB, Melba (Terry) Orzeck of Oro-Medonte, ON, Cathy Oxford of Springdale, NL, Rick Oxford of Springdale, NL, Jill (Floyd) Thomas of Massey Drive, NL. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mike was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law uncle and friend. His presence and warmth is sorely missed and will be forever more.

The family would like to thank Andy's House Hospice for their incredible care, kindness and support.  Thank you also to Dr. Reid and Dr. Markle at OSMH.
