It is with deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Retired Major Marshall Swartz loving husband of Joy, on Friday, April 2nd, 2021 in his 85th year.

Marsh is predeceased by his parents, Art and Vera Swartz, brother Gary Swartz and his daughter-in-law, Deanna Swartz.

Marsh leaves behind the love of his life and wife of nearly 65 years, Joy Ruby Swartz (nee Penney). He is also survived by his daughter Penney Edwards (George) and his son Gerry Swartz. He was the proud Grampa of his two angels, Cameron, and Rebecca Edwards.

He will be greatly missed by his sister, Joan Carney (Donald), his sister-in-law Josiane Swartz and his many nieces and nephews. Marsh had a wide network of friends whom he cherished and considered his family.

A proud member of the RCAF for 38 years, Marsh served in both NATO and NORAD. His career as a Radar Tech and Air Weapons Controller provided him and Joy the opportunity to travel the world including many posting throughout Canada, the US and Germany. His last assignment was the Air Force Base in Mountain Home, Idaho where he was the Commanding Officer for the Canadian contingent.

Marsh was known for his love of music, his ability to jive and was always the life of the party. He loved boating, gardening, classic cars and was an accomplished stained-glass artist. He also adored his four-legged companions and most especially, Danny.

Special thanks go out to Dr. Jason Franklin, Dr. Mike Mason and Peter Papadogianis, ND and to Cierra and all the wonderful nurses with Closing the Gap. We also wish to acknowledge and express our sincere thanks for the good and kind care he received from the many staff and volunteers at Hospice Muskoka – Andy’s House.

A celebration of life will be held at later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living South Muskoka or Hospice Muskoka – Andy’s House would be greatly appreciated.
