June Arlene Brown passed away peacefully at the Avalon Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario, on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at age 93. June was born in Parry Sound in 1925. Daughter to Phoebe & Harvey Willard. She married Harvey James Smith and moved to "the Smith farm" in on the Beatrice Townline. They raised four children. John Smith (Maureen), Murray Smith (Pamela), Barry Smith (Lorraine) & Betty Ann Lusk (Everett). She is the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her husband Harvey died in 1995 and shortly after, June moved into Bracebridge.
In the ensuing years, June met and married Bob Brown. June's family grew to include Bob's children Betsyann (Ron Moore) and the late Royce Brown. June will also miss games of dominoes with Betsyann's granddaughter Cassie.
June was also the sister to the late Gurneth Seney, Hiram Willard, Anson Willard & Royal Willard.
June moved to a retirement residence in Orangeville in 2011 and into extended care at Avalon Care Centre in 2015. She was a special lady to many, and those who knew her enjoyed the sense of humour she had right up to the end.
June had a great love for gardening, square dancing and playing euchre. She was a Life member of the Beatrice Women's Institute, lead the Beatrice 4-H club for many years sharing her wealth of knowledge of cooking and sewing with the young girls of her community. She loved to dance and spent many an afternoon at the Bracebridge Senior Citizens Club.
June enjoyed travelling to many places of the world with Harvey and then with Bob, and had a life surrounded by people who loved and respected her.
Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home in Bracebridge, on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Visitation will also be held Monday, May 27, 2019 from 10:00 - 11:00 am. The funeral will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Bracebridge Municipal Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with Harvey Smith.
