Jacquelyne 'Jackie' Herbst

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jackie at her home in Vankoughnet with husband Mark by her side on Tuesday, December 28 at the age of 55.

Jackie was born in Calgary on May 20, 1966. She attended Earl Grey Elementary, Rideau Park Junior High, and Western Canada High School. During this period, she played violin in the Calgary Youth Orchestra, was an avid camper at Camp Chief Hector, and worked her summers at Spruce Meadows. Jackie completed her science degree at The University of Alberta, before venturing solo on a three-month trek through New Zealand and Australia, returning home to join the workforce in medical sales where she met and eventually married Mark and relocated to the Simcoe-Muskoka area.

She was wife to Mark, a mother to Eric and Kirstin, mother-in-law to Ann and Keagan, sister-in-law to Paul, Karen, Jamie and Kelly, aunt to Colin, Kelsey, MacKenzie and Aislinn, and ‘’Banani’’ to Raiya and Etosha.

Jackie is also survived by her western family, grandmother Sadie Crump, mother Dawn, brother Greg, uncles Dave and Ken, aunt Linda and their families. She is also survived by uncle Gary Baerg, aunt Gail Jones and their families.

It is impossible to put into words how much Jackie impacted the lives of everyone she met. She was a genuinely beautiful person inside and out who glowed with energy and happiness and inspired us all to be better. She approached everything she did with determination and a never say die attitude.

We miss her terribly. Sleep well our beautiful girl.

In keeping with Jackie’s wishes there will be no funeral service, but a celebration of her life will take place next summer at her home on the Black River.
