Obituary

Jacob Stewart Seguin passed away peacefully, in the early hours on Friday, September 16, 2022 after a battle with cancer at the age of 21. He passed away at his family home in Port Sydney, Ontario surrounded by those that loved him.  Jacob was born on June 1st, 2001 in Peterborough, Ontario to parents Dianna Petrie (Rob) and Jason Seguin and moved to Muskoka in 2006 at the age of 5.

Jacob attended Gravenhurst PS, Macaulay PS and BMLSS.  While at BMLSS, Jacob was diagnosed with Metastatic Ewing Sarcoma.  Jacob enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, playing video games and hanging out with his friends.  He also loved the arts including drawing, photography and artwork of a variety of mediums.  He lived his life to the fullest and spent his time trying to make the lives of those he loved better, even through his difficult days of chemotherapy and radiation.  He worked in different jobs including fast food and landscaping  but ultimately it was the people in his life that he valued most.

Jacob is survived by his three brothers Darian, Adam and Noah as well as his stepsister Elizabeth.  He will be greatly missed by his cousins, aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles as well as his paternal grandparents.  Jacob will also be missed by his many close friends and loved ones including Rose Nicholls.  He is predeceased by his Grandma and Grandpa Keuhl.

Thank you to his oncology team both at Sick Kids and Princess Margaret, as well as the radiation team at Sick Kids for all their care.  Thank you as well as the Palliative Care Team in Muskoka for all the support that allowed him to pass away comfortably at home as per his wishes.

Services are being held for Jacob on Saturday, September 24th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 995 Cedar Lane in Bracebridge. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by the funeral at 11:30 am.  A private family interment will follow at Mainsville Cemetery near Cardinal, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to Campfire Circle (formerly Camp Ooch and Camp Trillium), an organization which provides the opportunity for families affected by childhood cancer with camp-inspired programs while in the hospital, in the community and with overnight camping opportunities.
