BANKS, Donna Coral (McGuire/Cox) - Donna passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, with family members by her side and listening to her favourite hymns. She was a woman of strong faith and looked forward to being welcomed into the arms of her loving Saviour.

Beloved wife of 61 years to Douglas Banks who predeceased her in 2017. Loving mother to Ken (Shirley), Ron (Janet), Paul (Debra), Nancy, and Andrew (Shari Neville). Proud grandmother of Harrison (Lori), Emily, Jordan (Rebecca), and Sydney. Remembered lovingly by extended family Beth Stewart and her daughters (granddaughters to Donna) Brenna and Delaney, and Crystal, and Angela.

Remembered also with great love by the many members of her adopted family here and her biological family in western Canada. Fondly thought of and missed by many friends near and far. Especially by lifelong friends Pat Olan and Mary Jane Kruczek.

Donna’s community involvement was extensive. She was well known by many for her acts of kindness. Whether it be Chelsea buns or a tourtiere, a listening ear or sound advice, a necessary ride or a visit, Donna was there. She volunteered her time freely to a variety of church and community affairs and events. She was involved in Meals on Wheels, the C.A.S. Board, the O.A.H.A. Board, the Pines Auxiliary, I.T.C., Mission Trip, Beaver Creek C.A.C., and many others.

She worked at several different jobs over her lifetime including, Bell Canada, Patterson Kaye Lodge (baker), and Junetta’s. Her crowning role was owner/operator (with husband Doug) of Banks Bed & Breakfast for 32 years, hosting hundreds in their home on the Muskoka River. Here she could use her many talents in home decorating, sewing, cooking, and entertaining. She also managed time for many hobbies such as painting and many arts and craft endeavours.

In addition to all of this, she was always a supportive and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched many lives and warmed the hearts of those who knew her.

An outdoor family service will take place at the Bracebridge Municipal Cemetery where interment will take place. A Celebration of Life and reception will be set at a future date to be determined. As your expression of sympathy, memorial donations to support the Muskoka Alzheimer’s Association or Pinegrove Fellowship Baptist Church.
