It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Grabowski of Utterson. Don is survived by his wife Joan (Gillett), Christina Grabowski of Red Deer, Joseph Grabowski of Utterson, Sonya Grabowski (Jordan Carriere) of Kinmount, and Maria Donia (Richard Donia) of Bracebridge. He was a part of our everyday lives and our hearts break to part with him.
Don will be so missed by his brother Gary Grabowski (Brenda) of Swastika, Sheri Ferguson (Barry) of Kirkland Lake, Doug Grabowski (Robin) of Pheonix and Mary Lou Severn (Terry) of Pheonix.
Of Don's many talents, his role of Grandpa was his best. Jack Nunn, Max Nunn, Theo Carriere, Perry Donia (deceased), Wendel Donia, Redmond Donia and Vander Donia will miss him dearly. Just weeks before we lost Don you would find him on the floor with these boys offering rides and singing silly songs.
Don was blessed to have many wonderful nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also a loved member of his wife Joan's family.
Don worked over 30 years for the Ministry of the Environment and then enjoyed almost 15 years of retirement. He filled these years drilling through rock with his Punjar drill, excavating with his backhoe, crawling into (and out of) septic tanks, snowmobiling, ATVing, motorcycling to get a good butter tart, fishing, hunting, and harvesting thousands of garlic bulbs.
Don could make you laugh and teach you something in the same story; a story that you may have heard three times prior but somehow you still wanted to hear it. He could fall any tree and Macgyver a solution with a straw and some string. He had a song for anything and rocked a croc with two pairs of socks like a boss. He would never say no to a good time or family gathering - his standard answer? Sign me up!
We have lost a very gentle, generous, funny, and loving man. A wonderful son, brother, father, Grandpa, uncle, and friend.
Thank you Don for enriching our lives. We love you endlessly.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 10 AM at Reynolds Funeral Home, 1 Mary Street, Bracebridge, ON
