Obituary

Constance Violet Goheen passed away peacefully at The Pines Retirement home in Bracebridge on Friday January 13th, 2023, just days after her 97th birthday.

Connie, as she liked to be called was a middle child born in England on January 4th, 1926, to Edward and Amelia Marshall, her brothers Eddy and Wally both deceased.

She attended school in Woking Surrey, England and at a young age went out to work in Domestic Services. During WW2 she signed up for the Woman’s Land Army where she served in the South Lodge Hostel. During this time, she met up with two soldiers who requested they borrow her bicycle to make it to a store before closing, while one soldier rode off, she enjoyed a long walk with the other soldier that eventually led to happily being married to Leonard Goheen on June 16th, 1945, in England.

Connie braved leaving her husband and home to board the hospital ship Letitia with other war brides and met by her husband's family to begin her life in Canada, when Len arrived home after the war, they settled in Bracebridge and started a family.

A quiet woman, she faithfully enjoyed her work being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and keeping the house a home throughout.

Should you visit, there was always coffee and something sweet to enjoy from Friday's baking day. When you joined the family, you would be prepared for some hand-knit item of love being either a sweater, hat, mittens, etc.

And though she was quiet, anyone who met Connie acquired an instant fondness toward her.

Later in life, and after her husband had passed Connie was blessed with a new friend, Doug Park, and in their senior years enjoyed wonderful companionship as she joined him at his home in Innisfil, they were able to enjoy a few travels together, Florida and British Columbia which she truly enjoyed.

After Doug passed away, she returned home to Bracebridge and reconnected with a dear friend Georgina Fyfe (d) they spent much time together enjoying tea, conversations and many very long walks that amazed their children.

Connie moved into James Street Retirement Residence where she enjoyed outings with new friends before entering The Pines.

Connie was predeceased by her; husband of 50 years Leonard Francis Goheen (1995) and also predeceased by her second love Douglas Park.

Connie leaves behind her children; Linda Rankin (Dave), Clifford (Vicki), Donald (Carrie), Lorne (Roy), James (Sharon) of New Brunswick, Andrew (Denise) of Midland, and Cynthia Greer (Roger) of Kirkland Lake

Her Grandchildren; Douglas Rankin, Deanna Kiernan (Rob), Jeffrey Goheen (Jennifer), Daniel Goheen (Kelly), Leah Goheen (Martin Ferron), Thomas Goheen (Venessa), Alicia Seebach (Rob Welton), Marcella Forth (Darcy Langlois) and Marianna Charette (Chris)

She also leaves 16 Great-Grandchildren, numerous Nieces, and Nephews, and will also be missed by Kim and John Klonowski (Park), Jim and Joan Park and Sandra Fyfe and many friends of the family.

The family gives special thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Pines for their exceptional care of Connie.
