Catherine Bernice Jane Mccoll

Catherine Bernice Jane McColl (Hynes) passed away peacefully in her 88th year in the early morning of July 30th, 2022, at Etobicoke General Hospital.  Affectionately known as Kay, she was a wise and committed wife, patient and proud mother, caring sister, honest friend, supportive aunt, playful grandmother, keen great-grandmother and interested great-aunt.  Kay, the loving matriarch.  She opened her heart, her home and her cottage, graciously welcoming all.

Kay was a fiercely independent, encouraging, and strong-willed woman.  She was a prolific knitter and creative “crocheter”.  She was the social centre of the family!  With the nickname of “Tell-A-Kay”, she was the information hub connecting us all.  In her final days, she wisely whispered, as a reminder to us, that family comes before all else.

Survived by her beloved husband, Art, after 69 remarkable years of marriage. Loving and generous mother to Arthur (Judy) and Randy (Tina).

Proud Grandmother of Terry, Jennifer, Kari, Chris (Joe), Jenn (Karl), Brandon (Annette), Kim (Matt) and Laura (Tim), who all held a special place in her heart. Kay was a delighted Great-Grandmother to Lincoln, Liam, Hailey, Cadence, Jaxon, Nicholas, Curtis, Andrew, and Lochlan.

Predeceased by siblings Doris (Larry, Alexander), Ruth (Jim), Isabelle (Fred), Harold “Bud” (Helen) and nephew Ted (Wendy) and nieces Lynn (Oliver) and Jane (Doug) Sue (Andy) as well as Art’s only sister Marie (Auntie Boobie).  Survived by her sisters Ann (Don) and Barbara (Russell).

Deeply loving Aunt to Debra (Fred), Kim (Fraser), Bonnie (Bill), Brenda (Reg), Sharon (Dave), Gwen (John), Vaughn, Elexis (Rob), Jane (Doug,) Korean (Douglas), Ricky (Susan), Sue, James, Ross, Paul, Pat (Wayne) and her sisters, Dianna (Scott) and Judy (Pete).

Private graveside services will take place in Baysville, ON.  Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.  Details to follow in the coming weeks.
