Wilma Jean Jeffrey

April 11, 1926 — June 18, 2024

Bracebridge

Wilma Jean Jeffrey born April 11th 1926, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024 at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital at the age of 98.

Treasured mother to Jeff Jeffrey (Cathy), Dell Jeffrey (Deb) and Mark Jeffrey (Marilyn). Dear grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Nikolas, Caitlin, Jacqueline, Nathan, Kathryn, Rebecca and Mathew. Predeceased by her brother Samuel Misner (Doris) and her sister Muriel Gibbs (Bill). Loved daughter to William Closson Misner and Jean Misner (Larmon) both deceased.

Wilma will be remembered for her quiet nature, simple ways and kind heart. She loved her boys and worked hard to provide for them as a single parent. She learned to be an excellent baker while working at her sister’s bake shop on Manitoba street in Bracebridge, and later at Patterson-Kay and Pinelands Lodges.

She was a talented seamstress, sewing drapes for Modern Home Supply and wedding dresses for several young brides in town. She made a reputation as being reliable, hardworking and capable wherever she worked including Watts Drug Store and The Store in Port Carling.

Wilma had many friends and loved to be active participating in the walking club at Santa’s Village, 10am coffee at McDonalds and golf at Pals.

Wilma loved to play cribbage and always had a puzzle on the go. She loved to travel whether it be a road trip to Vancouver with her boys or one of many Hammond’s bus trips. Never one to sit idle she kept her hands busy with beautiful knitting and crochet projects, which were gifted to family or donated to the gift shop at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital.

At the age of 94 when her family gave her a tablet for her birthday she declared “You mean I have to learn something new?”….. and she did, very proud and happy to text her kids and grandkids or have a family chat.

Wilma loved her independence and drove her car until age 93. We will hold her in our heart, always.

Thank you Dr. LaJeunesse and the staff at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for being so caring and kind. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to South Muskoka Hospital Foundation. Per her request, there will be no funeral, personal condolences and messages may be shared at www.reynoldsfuneral.com.
