William Stanley "Stan" Greer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stan at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge on April 1st, 2026 at the age of 92. Reunited with his beloved wife Shirley. Stan was a dear brother to Helen (d. Bob) Stephens, the late Gord (Helen) Greer, Irvin (Jean) Greer and Marilyn (d. Stan) Beirness. Loving Father of Jennifer (Jamie) McFadyen, Beth (Ron) Bowen, Paul (Julia) Greer and John Greer. Loving grandfather to Kyle (Melissa), Amy (Robin), Kadie (Kyle), Mackenzie (Mitch) and Braeden. Loving Papa to Madison, Mason, Garrett, Tyson, Axel, Blake and another great grandbaby on the way. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Margaret (Murray) Nutt and the late Bob (d. Carol) Suffern; as well as his many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. 

Stan had the skill to strike up a conversation with anyone, most often being able to connect their family-line and where they were from. Stan enjoyed the company of friends and family, reminiscing of good times had, touring the neighbourhood on his side-by-side (often accompanied by his great-grandson’s, across the road) with waves and smiles each morning and afternoon to the bus-stop gang which the children enjoyed just as much as he did. His pure kindness has spread over generations, creating an inevitable loss but lasting memories. 

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Tsugios, the many nurses and doctors at SMMH and his home care team for their compassion towards Stan and his family during the last few months. 

In keeping with Stan’s wishes cremation has taken place. On Saturday, June 20th, 2026, there will be an interment at 11:30am at the Ullswater Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at the Raymond Community Hall. 

In Stan’s memory, donations may be made to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
