William Phillip Brereton

With heavy hearts, we announce that William Philip Brereton passed away early Friday afternoon, March 8th at 75 years of age. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. 

Bill’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved wife Ursula, his children Andrea (Scott) and Kristina (Pete), his grandchildren Kamryn and Reyd, and sisters Gail (Hans) and Barb, along with all the many friends he made on his way through life.

Bill Brereton was a handyman. He could fix anything. Usually the right way, and it usually worked regardless. But there was one thing he couldn’t fix: he managed to tinker enough to keep his body going for a few years, but it wasn’t enough. 

I would like to think that if we had given him the right tools and the time, he might have found a way to cure himself, or at least keep himself running - there would be duct tape everywhere and a few bolts sticking out, and perhaps some oil dripping, but who knows?

But he did build his family right. He leaves behind three wonderful women who are beautiful and strong, a couple of good guys who choose to stand with them, and two of the most amazing Grandkids anyone could ask for. And over the years he built up a collection of tried and true friends. His time with us wasn’t long enough, but we are glad for the time we had.

Friends and family are invited to Turner Chapel (Reynolds Funeral Home) at 1 Mary St, in Bracebridge on March 11th, from 4-6 pm for a visitation.
