Vern Crowder of Port Carling passed away in his 95th year peacefully, with family, at Granite Ridge Retirement Residence in Gravenhurst.
Vern was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Carol. He is survived by his children, Cathy (Garry) Duck and Jeff (Debbie) Crowder. Vern was the doting grandfather of Kendra (Cody), Robbie (Shannon), Bree and Emily, and great grandfather of Chloe and Marleigh. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Murielle). He was predeceased by his brother Don (Peggy) and his sister Reta (Frank). Vern will be missed by many other family members and friends.
He was a lifetime resident of Minett and Port Carling. Vern was the co-owner of Crowder Construction for many years and a volunteer firefighter for 44 years before enjoying retirement with Carol. With his green thumb, Vern cultivated and cared for gardens teeming with life and colour. He was a dedicated churchwarden of St. James Anglican Church. Dad will be fondly remembered by his family as the baby whisperer.
Known for his kindness, dedication to community, and sense of humour, he will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
A private family interment will take place at Port Carling Cemetery. In memory of Vern, donations can be made to Andy’s House-Hospice Muskoka or St. James Anglican Church.
