Sheila McDougall

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila McDougall, who died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 20, 2025, at The Pines Long-Term Care Home in Bracebridge, Ontario. She was 86 years old.

Sheila is reunited with her beloved husband, Ronald McDougall, who predeceased her. She will forever be remembered as the treasured mother of Glen McDougall, Tammy Stevenson (Mark), Ron McDougall Jr. (Kelly), and Colleen Moore (Chad). She was the cherished grandmother of Conner, Meghan, Ian, Haley, Bailey, Dylan, Gregory, Abigail, Kalyn, and Ella, and great grandmother to Jordan, each of whom she adored beyond measure.

Sheila leaves behind her siblings Judy Surtees (Arnold), Theresa Black, Barbara Tryon, Betty McFarlane, Bev Kingshott (Debbie), and Ken Kingshott (Debbie). She is predeceased by siblings Lyle, Morley, and Joyce, as well as brothers-in-law Robert Black and Ted Tryon.

Sheila’s love for her family was the heart of her life. She enjoyed travelling with Ron, gathering for Sunday family dinners, and baking for those she loved. Most of all, she reveled in being a grandmother. Often called the “ultimate grandma,” she was known for her warm hugs, her bright, sweet smile, and her willingness to be talked into just about anything by her grandchildren. Her gentle spirit and her love for babies and animals brought joy to everyone around her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the many visits, calls, and messages received over the past week. A special thank-you is given to Dr. Keith Cross and the staff at The Pines Long-Term Care Home for their exceptional care, kindness, and the love they showed Sheila over the past four years. There truly is no place in the world like the Pines.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pines Support Committee would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 13th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ullswater Community Hall (1503 Old Parry Sound Road). All who knew and loved Sheila are welcome.
