Richard A.F. (Rick) Dewsbury

December 22, 1934 – June 2, 2023

The family of the late Rick Dewsbury invites friends to join them as they share their memories and honour him as the unique raconteur that he was. A casual gathering with no planned speeches but with an opportunity to share memories with family & friends.

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Rick on June 2, 2023, at The Pines LTC.  Loving husband of Sandra (Stoddart) for 65 years.  Father of Bruce (Frankie) and Wendy (Doug). He lived for his Grandchildren Rebecca (Pat), Chris (Ashton), and Michael and his Great Grandchildren Lochlan, Blair, and Richard. Survived by his sister Barbara MacLeod. Predeceased by his parents Richard (Dick) Dewsbury and Mary Dewsbury (Killah).”

Born in his grandmother’s house on Macpherson Ave. in Toronto, he remained in Toronto throughout his career in financial services as a broker.  After raising his family, he relocated to Muskoka with Sandra in 2000.  While living in Muskoka he was a member of Toastmasters, the Masonic Lodge in Bracebridge, and volunteered at Beaver Creek Institution.

Rick was a passionate outdoorsman raising champion field trial Beagles for many years, an avid fisherman, and a hunter.  As an astute analyst who was always abreast of current affairs, he provided commentary on the impact of world events on the lives of the people around him.  His sage advice was offered to all.  He will be missed for his sharp wit and great sense of humour.

In keeping with Rick’s wishes cremation has taken place.  A gathering with friends and family to share memories of Rick will be held at a later date.
