Rejean Joseph Luc Gagne

December 9, 1933 — November 25, 2025

Bracebridge

Rejean Joseph Luc Gagné, known affectionately as “Reg,” passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, in his 92nd year.

Reg is survived by his siblings Pierre, John, Miche, and Collette. He now joins Lucette, Denis, and Gilbert in heaven. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, his honorary children and grandchildren, and the countless friends he made throughout his long and full life.

The Gagné family moved from Pine Hill, Quebec to Toronto, Ontario around 1950, when Reg was about 18. He built a proud career as a drywaller, contributing to the construction of tens of thousands of homes in the Toronto area over more than three decades. After retiring, he spent 27 wonderful years at his cottage on the Muskoka River—his favourite place in the world. In the last month of his life, declining health required hospitalization before his peaceful passing.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dennis Cleveland (special friend and neighbour) and Megan Gray (PSW and special friend) for helping Suzanne and Mark (niece and nephew) honour Reg’s wish to remain living by the river for as long as possible.

Reg will be remembered for his hard work, his determination, his friendship, and his generosity. He never hesitated to lend a hand—whether through physical help, financial support, or simply sharing a meaningful conversation. He loved deer and moose hunting, spending time with family, friends, and neighbours, and enjoying a rye or two in good company. He also found joy in reading novels and making his daily trip to pick up the Toronto Sun and his lotto tickets. 92 years is difficult to capture in a few paragraphs, but Reg was truly someone who lived life to the fullest.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, from 12:00–3:00 p.m., with eulogy remarks at 1:00 p.m., at Reynolds Funeral Home – Turner Chapel, 1 Mary Street, Bracebridge, ON. Refreshments will be served. If you feel comfortable, you are welcome to wear camouflage, hunting attire, or cottage-casual clothing in Reg’s honour.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations of any amount to Hospice Muskoka – Andy’s House, in Reg’s memory.
