It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond John Morgan at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with dementia. Even though his memories of us may have faded, our memories of him will last forever.
Raymond is predeceased by his loving wife, Josephine (2003), and his brother Bill (2009). He is survived by his fiancé Wendy and his children Daniel Morgan (Alycia), Lynne Dickson (Gordon), Dawn McKenzie (Michael), Susan Beirness (Perry), and “ltl” Rae Morgan. Proud Grandpa to nine grandchildren: Danielle, Tara, Diana (Geordan) Ken (Becky) Candice (Mike), Jeff, Joe (Lacey), Jay (Chevaunne), and Ryan (Melanie). Raymond will also be remembered by his 18 great-grandchildren.
Raymond was a beloved Uncle to many nieces and nephews and an honorary Uncle to the “Over the Hill Gang” children. He was a man of many talents and took everything straight on, from running a farm with racehorses, living on a boat in New York and Florida, and building high rises in the big city.
Raymond adored his mother Morag and even though she did not always agree with some of his shenanigans, he would make her laugh until all was forgiven. Raymond loved to be surrounded by friends and family. Whether on the tennis court, playing darts at the Judge, pool at the Legion, or spending many hours at this bush lot in Purbrook. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a handsome little glint in his eye. When you were in his presence you knew you were around someone who loved life. Raymond’s life never had a dull moment. He lived life wanting to skid in broadside in a cloud of dust, thoroughly used up and warn out. We all know he had a great ride.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 1 pm - 4 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Bracebridge. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the animal rescue of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
