Raul Robert Neps passed away peacefully on November 24th at the age of 73. Born on October 7, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario, Raul made his home in Muskoka, Ontario, where he built a life filled with family, laughter, and countless memories.
Raul was the beloved son of Oie and Eimar Neps. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eha Eljas, and their children: Kevin Neps, Ryan Neps (Jana), Miku, Leo, and Kaili (Steven), whom he loved deeply. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nolan, Joey, Lola, and Annie, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. Raul also leaves behind his cherished sisters, Ene and Kristine, and his nieces and nephews Claire, Kendra, Ashley, Mihkel, Andres, Aivar, Alar & grand niece Mila.
A graduate of Queen’s University and the Royal Military College of Canada, Raul built a distinguished career as a Civil Engineer with Bell Canada, where he dedicated 25 years of expertise and service. His time at RMC laid the foundation for a life defined by discipline, dedication, and pride.
Raul’s humour was legendary — unmistakably dry, quick, and ever-present. Whether in a serious moment or an ordinary conversation, he had a way of turning everything into a joke. His wit brought levity to every room and left those around him laughing, sometimes long after the moment had passed.
He cherished time spent with his children and especially loved watching his grandchildren grow. He found joy in golf, fishing, the roar of his beloved Trans Am, the companionship of his dogs, and the peace of being at Metsakodu — his place of rest.
Raul will be deeply missed not only by his family but also by his many friends and neighbours, all of whom were touched by his warmth, humour, and generosity of spirit.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 29th at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Toronto (817 Mt Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON M4P 2L1). A brief reception with light snacks will follow, offering an opportunity for friends and family to gather, share memories, and honour Raul’s life.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Friends and family from near and far are welcome to share pictures, stories and the celebration that Raul wanted everyone to enjoy. Please send Eha your email to be on the list when the date is available to share.
