In loving memory, Randolph Lionel Dempsey

August 16^th, 1955 – January 1, 2024

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of a dearly loved husband, son, father and friend. Randy slipped away peacefully on January 1^st, 2024, at SMMH in Bracebridge, ON. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories with his wife, Jean, and children Graeme (Milan) and the late Carmen (Matt) Pearcey. 

Randy was born in Toronto to Mary and the late Lionel Dempsey. Dear brother to Ken (Patty), Debbie (Corky) Donald, and Rob (Ginger). Son-in-law to the late Ted and Freida Fisher and brother-in-law to the late Don, Fred, Sherry (Late Lee) Woods, Rose (Dave), Debbie (Dale) Ketch, and Brenda (Mike). Loving and proud uncle of Crystal, Tom, Eric, Stephanie, Sam, Brooke, Matthew, Mark, Shawna, Tara, Chris, Sarah, Alex, Hannah, and Patrick.

Randy had a zest for life and adventurous spirit. He hitchhiked across Canada at an early age, surveyed the most remote areas of Northern Alberta before returning to Muskoka to pursue a career in landscaping/gardening around the many lakes. Following that he joined the maintenance crew at SMMH in 1990 where he remained loyally employed for thirty years until his retirement in 2020. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching his children’s baseball and hockey teams, found solace in being outdoors to hike, cross country ski, snowshoe and fish. In his quiet time, he enjoyed a nice glass of wine, music and a good book.

He showed great resilience and strength during the loss of his daughter and acted as a rock for the family during the stressful time. Randy’s vibrant, considerate and gentle soul will be deeply missed.

Special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at SMMH who went out of their way to support Randy and his family through this challenging time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13^th, 2024 at the Bracebridge Legion from 1-4PM, service beginning at 2PM.
