Mickii Lorraine Olsen (nee Whittaker)
Mickii was born in Windsor, Ontario on February 5, 1958, to Hope Whittaker and Nora Catherine "Cathy" Boucher (nee Smith). She passed away peacefully at Andy's House South Muskoka Hospice on April 15, 2025, at the age of 67. She was predeceased by her treasured parents, stepfather Larry Boucher, beloved husband of 36 years Olla Olsen, and adored companion Andy Olsen. She is survived by her dear siblings Joe Whittaker (Evelyn), Nancy Shelley, Patti Cole and Tim Whittaker (Tracey). Loving mother of Phillip (Sarah) and Shane. Very involved grandmother of Michael James, David Rasmus, Alexandra Nixie Amara, Remington Orion, and Dawson Joseph Stephen. Caring sister-in-law of Wendy and Jacob Kuijer, and Katrina and Roy Heise. Chosen sister of close family friend Jane Ruttan.
Mickii had a drastic accident at age 5. Through the years following, with the steadfast help of her family, numerous medical treatments, and her own tenacity and optimism, she flourished into the warm, friendly, ever supportive adult cherished by family members, neighbours and friends alike. She attended Brigham Young University in Utah where she obtained a degree in Library Sciences with a minor in Architecture.
While in the rehabilitation centre in Toronto Mickii met her future husband, Olla, and fell in love with his humour and wonderful sparkling blue eyes. After living in Toronto for a few years, they moved into their house in Bracebridge and raised a family.
Mickii was always giving, and her and Olla were very active with RISE; She was very involved with her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bracebridge.
As her children became adults, she turned her skills to new endeavors such as taking courses at Georgian College, acting as an advisor to senior’s computer training Muskoka C.A.P Network, and assisting individuals and groups with proposals for funding for needed programs.
When grandchildren came into the picture, she was thrilled and became an integral part of their everyday life.
Her fatal illness was diagnosed only last December. In her last months at Andy's House, she demonstrated her courage and her concern for others as she dealt with her ever-diminishing health. She is greatly missed by her family, especially her grandchildren, friends, neighbours and the many people she has helped through the years.
Special thank you to all the staff of Andy's House for their compassionate care in Mickii's last months.
Mickii's internment will take place on Saturday, August 2 at 11:30am at the Ullswater Cemetery, 1289 Old Parry Sound Road, followed by a Celebration of her Life at the Ullswater Community Hall, 1503 Old Parry Sound Road.
