MICHAEL JOHN LYNDON
On December 15, 2025, Michael was welcomed into the warm embrace of our heavenly Father and excitedly kissed by his five dogs (Ally, May, Murphy, Timber, Jeb, and Fenn) and three cats (Seamus, Mouse and Muffin).
Michael grew up loving the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were an integral part of his lifestyle, along with his tight family ties. Lovingly referred to as "Joe", Michael was a devoted friend, brother, father, son and neighbour. A graduate of Bracebridge High School, Michael spent a few years studying and playing hockey for the University of Ottawa. Eventually making his way back to Muskoka, Michael founded Startwright Contracting, where he prided himself on his attention to detail and honing his craft for over 40 years. Michael continued his love of hockey well into his adult years, playing hockey for the Spare Tires until his knees could no longer take the punishment. He found a love for golf, founding the annual "JOE PRO-AM" golf tournament. Rather than playing for the prized green jacket, a tacky, ill-fitting, plaid dinner jacket from the local thrift store was the honoured prize. This was a well attended event with a light flair that so embodied who Michael was.
Michael's greatest accomplishments came to him in his role as a father.
His legacy carries on through his 5 children: Jacob (Jaime), Byron (Kathryn), Madeleine (Connor), Nathan and Jack.
He will be missed by his 5 grandchildren: Luca, Cruz, Kingston, June Bug and Logan.
His kisses are missed by his dog Diego and cat Muck.
Jacob and Byron’s mother Cathi and Madeleine, Nathan and Jack’s mother Mary continued to be supportive partners as they lovingly co-parented together.
Michael is survived by his siblings: Robert (Jennifer), Peter and Kathy (Keith) as well as cousin James Taylor. He is predeceased by his parents Kay and Norm, along with brother Phillip (Diane).
Michael embodied kindness, compassion, fairness, justice and love for all creatures big and small. His love for Neil Young provided an impressive impersonation that was wildly entertaining and never got old!
And for all who knew "Joe", Lyndon's Lot was his true happy place. His children were raised swimming and splashing in Strawberry Bay where family gatherings, BBQ's, birthday celebrations, camp outs and campfires carried on his love for simple, peaceful entertainment. His children continue that deep love of the outdoors in all its glory.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully suggest donating to the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre or planting a tree in his honour.
