Mary Magdalene Falvy

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved mother Mary Falvy at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on June 18, 2025 at the age of 88.

Mary is predeceased by her dear husband John Falvy and beloved son Robert Falvy. Cherished mother to Cynthia Ondrich (Arnis), Jennifer Falvy (Mike) and Linda Falvy. Loving grandmother to Anna Worrell (Jon) and Emily Ondrich and great-grandmother to Wesley Worrell.

Mary, originally from the small town of Westport, settled in Toronto where she would meet her husband John. They moved to Muskoka with their young family in the 1970’s after cottaging there for a number of years. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Parish.

Her love of baking was an expression of love and connection to family, friends and community. Every celebration and holiday had a signature dessert. Mary became well known in the town of Bracebridge for her famous buttertarts through her restaurant Mary’s Muffin Shop that was a thriving business in the 1980’s.

Later, Mary would become known by many in town during her years of work at Northern Buildall where her bright smile and caring nature shone through in all her interactions.

Mary took great pride in her ability to use technology to maintain connection to her children, grandchildren and extended family with daily texts and emails. Her most recent accomplishment was being proactive with her health, tracking her daily steps and taking joy in sharing daily updates with her daughters.

Every day she looked forward to the sunshine with an appreciation for the flowers that grew in her garden. She took immense pleasure in birdwatching, following the annual arrival of hummingbirds.

Her greatest joy in life was family, her love and care for her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Sunday June 22, 2025 at Reynolds Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Funeral Mass is taking place on Monday June 23, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery and refreshments at St. Joseph’s Hall at 12:30pm.
