MARJORIE HELEN DOROTHY SAWYER
OCTOBER 12, 1936 - MARCH 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our MOTHER, Marjorie Helen Dorothy (Lee) Sawyer. She passed away peacefully, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on March 5, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Harris (Bud) Sawyer and their 8 children: Ruby (Tim), Diana (Bill), Cathy (Steve), Norma (John), Karen, David, Rachel and Mary (Shawn).
She was the daughter of Hugh and Rebecca (Greer) Lee. Born in Bent River. She was the youngest daughter, one of 15 children. Survived by her only living brother Carl Lee (Brenda).
She married Harris (Bud) Sawyer on August 26, 1955. They built a home together on Hewlitt Road in Milford Bay and here they raised their 8 children.
She was a full time Homemaker. A loving Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. FAMILY WAS EVERYTHING TO HER. She loved family visits and get togethers. She gave the best hugs. Her love was always unconditional.
Mom loved gardening, watching birds and animals of all types. She was also very handy. Often fixing bicycles for not only her own children, but nieces and nephews. She also helped build some really awesome and fun tobogganing hills.
She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.
We would like to extend special thanks to the nurses in ICU at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for your care and compassion, especially Clover, you made sure Mom's comfort was your priority. You also showed a lot of empathy and support towards our family. Special thanks also extended to Dr. Krensky & Dr. Whynott.
We would also like to express our thanks to the staff at Muskoka Shores on the 3rd floor for your care of Mom. Special mention to evening RPN Patricia Vanderfleet, you always went above and beyond in caring for Mom. She really loved you.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2pm.
