Marjorie May Brown (Nee Hammell) (May 7, 1941 - August 13, 2025)
On August 13, 2025, Marjorie May Brown died peacefully at Huntsville Hospital at the age of 84. Marjorie was the beloved wife of Mervyn for almost 65 years. She was the treasured mother to Gail Greenfield (Brown) and Michael Brown. She was Nana to Quinton Greenfield, Euan Greenfield, Khloe Brown and Elijah Trudeau, and recently became great grandma to Everhett Trudeau-Cockburn. Loved daughter of parents Elmer and Jessie Hammell (Coutts), Marjorie leaves behind her sisters Louise Kirbyson (Bev), Lynda Blanchard (Terry), Jean Sadler (Bill) and Norma Bezzant (Dave). She was also loved and will be remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjorie enjoyed athletics in her early years and later became a member of the Vintage Blue Adult Skating Team, took up golf and cross country skiing. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlework, cards, the cottage, puzzles, and her monthly Vintage Blue and Red Hat lunches. She was an avid journaller, either writing daily in the cottage or her personal diary. She enjoyed travelling with Mervyn, her friends and her sisters. Some of her favourite trips were to the East Coast to visit her sister Norma, Ireland, and a spectacular trip with Merv to Europe when he retired. Marjorie was also well known for her buttertarts!
Before becoming a full time mom, Marjorie worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Port Carling.
The family plans to hold a celebration of life September 21, 2025 at the Port Carling Legion from 1-4pm. Memorial donations can be made to Andy’s House in Port Carling.
