Marion Rhoda Kingshott passed away peacefully at Andy’s House, Port Carling, October 14, 2025, in her 99th year.
She was born in Gravenhurst to Leonard and Victoria Stothers. She met and married her first love Chester there. They moved to Bent River where they built their forever home and raised 4 boys.
Marion worked as a homemaker and volunteered much of her time at the Stother’s Bent River General Store. After her husband, Ches passed away April 15, 1975; she completed the construction of a home they had started in Nutt’s Lake, Raymond and lived there for several years before moving to Bracebridge. In later years she shared her life with Ray Fraser (deceased).
Marion was a good friend to many. She loved camping, fishing, reading and crocheting afghans, which she gave to family, friends and charity. She was good at telling her boys what they could and couldn’t do.
She was an active volunteer at South Muskoka Hospital and was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, receiving her 50-year pin and medal just days before she passed.
Survived by Chester (Dorothy), Bruce, Barry (Sue), Ralph (Janet), Grandchildren Martin, Jason, Colin, Tanya, Kevin and Ryan, Step Grandchildren, Dan Vosper, Caroline, Jana and Brent Rodwell and 7 Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by Husband Chester and Daughter In-Law Barbara.
The family is most grateful for the caring workers from The Friends, Dr. Hodson, Dr. Nairn, and all others whose special attention allowed Mom to live on her own at home for many years, as well as the staff at Andy’s House for her care in her final few days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Bracebridge, from 1 to 4 PM on November 23rd, 2025.
