It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Malcolm Boyes on Saturday, July 15 in his 83rd year.
Malcolm was married to the love of his life, Lee, for nearly 56 years and was adored by his children: Andrew (Monica), Heather (Gord) Bremner, Melanie (Terry) Martin, Steve (Michelle) and 11 wonderful grandchildren. He was a beloved brother and brother-in-law to Faith (predeceased) and George (Vais), Trevor (predeceased) and Mary Jean, Graydon and Irene, Neil (predeceased) and Betty Kay, Gwendolyn and Jim (Sitler), Elizabeth and Garth (Dynes), and Ian and Bonnie.
Malcolm lovingly raised his family in his home village of Vankoughnet, where he was a faithful and longtime board member and elder of St. David’s Presbyterian Church. Over the years Malcolm enjoyed keeping fit and active through his love of sports and the outdoors. He was always willing to give a helping hand, enjoy a laugh, or provide a listening ear for his many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours whom he cared for deeply. Malcolm was also well known for his work in the local construction, logging, and retail lumber business as he held himself and his workmanship to a high standard.
He was devoted to growing in his Christian faith and to leading a life of integrity. We were truly blessed by his life and his love for us.
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NLT)
The family will receive friends at Reynolds Funeral Home, 1 Mary Street, Bracebridge on Sunday, July 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be conducted at St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Vankoughnet on Monday, July 24th at 2 pm. Interment at St. David’s Cemetery. Followed by a reception at The Village Square.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice that supports the values dear to Malcolm’s heart: community outreach, homelessness, healthcare, and poverty.
Lee and her family would like to thank the expertise and compassionate care provided to Malcolm and herself throughout this past year. We are grateful to Dr. Tsugios and the warm and caring staff at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Hospital. A very special thank you to the nurses at the ParaMed clinic and the oncology team at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia. We were fortunate to have an amazing team surrounding us.
