Linda Darlene Austin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Darlene Austin, who died at the age of 64 on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Algonquin Grace Hospice, Huntsville, Ontario. Linda was born to parents Betty and Don Speck on May 17, 1961, in Bracebridge, Ontario. Linda is survived by her beloved husband of almost 42 years, Ivan Austin. She is also survived by her mother, Betty.

Linda will be dearly missed by her children, Aaron (Chrystal), Donald. Although visits were few, the light of Linda’s life was her grandson, Stanley. She is also survived by her sisters Karen Hunter (Shane) and Wendy Horton (Len). She was also the dear aunt of Matthew, Jenna, Melissa, Chrystal, Peter, Amy, Josh, Jason, and Angela. She will most notably be missed by her fuzzy companion, her dog, Molly.

Linda was a light in this world. Her kindness and good heart will never be forgotten. Although she was shy, she loved spending time with family and close friends. She was a member of the Bracebridge Legion and was known for her involvement in the community.

She was an avid Facebook reader, always keeping up with her friends and those around her. She also loved her iPad games. She could be found at home reading, crocheting, or doing a puzzle. She always kept busy.

Linda loved to get out of the house and travel, most notably to Myrtle Beach. She also loved spending “summer” at the cabin, but only when it was warm with no bugs. Casino trips were one of her favourites, too.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Thomas Anglican Church on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1:00-3:00pm. All are welcome to join for some light refreshments and to share the stories and memories you have of Linda and let her memory live on.
