Leonard "Len" Kenneth Parry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, due to complications during surgery at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie. He was 79 years old.
Born on June 6, 1947, Len grew up on the family farm in Burks Falls, where he developed his lifelong work ethic and deep love for the outdoors. On November 22, 1967, he married Linda Hunter in Bracebridge. In 1971, they moved to the city, spending over 25 years raising their family in Scarborough and Oshawa. In 2008, Len happily returned to his roots, moving back home to the Muskoka’s.
Len was a skilled tradesman. A dedicated roofer and sheet metal worker, he spent the majority of his career working with Heather & Little Ltd., leaving his mark on many historical buildings. He was also known for being a great arborist. He had a rare talent for the trade and could fell a tree like no one else. Away from work, he loved fishing and hunting.
Len went by many cherished names: Dad, Husband, Brother, Uncle Len, Chief, and Papa Len. He was a truly good man, a friend to everyone he met, and the kind of person who would give you his last dollar if you needed it. To his family and friends, Len was permanently "the guy at the cottage." He was happiest when he was driving the boat, building a campfire, sharing a drink, playing games, and filling the room with laughter.
He is survived by his sister, Norma Taylor; his ex-wife, Linda Parry; and his two daughters, Nicole Parry-Crerar (Peter Crerar) and Terra Parry-Bunn (Glenn Bunn). He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren, Hunter Parry, Briar Crerar, Raelynn Hastings, and Justice Guignard.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted by his daughters on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at St. Thomas Anglican Church, located at 4 Mary Street, Bracebridge, ON, P1L 2B6. All family and friends are welcome to come together, share stories, and celebrate a life well-lived.
