It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence “Larry” Domenic D’Andrea on May 24th , 2021. Larry passed peacefully at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour his legacy by spreading kindness and living their lives to the fullest.
Beloved husband of Michelle [née Cashaback] who was a devoted wife of 38 years. Loving and cherished father to his son Justin and daughter Jamie Lee (Jordan Garus). Proud ‘Grandpa’ to Addilyn – his ray of sunshine through the difficult times. Larry was predeceased by his parents Domenic and Dolores, brother Michael, sister Beverley (Randy Fox) and his Cashaback in-laws Percy, Annette and Robert. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Carol Ann (Gary), Robert (Barb), Frances and Marilyn (Hank). He will not be forgotten by his in-laws Percy (Jeanne), Tom, Rick (Wendy), Doreen and Joanne. His nieces and nephews will always commemorate the uncle who got down on the floor and tickled them until they laughed or cried with joy.
He will forever be remembered in this world as he has touched and influenced so many lives. His generosity, endless compassion, along with his abilities to create and repair just about anything are only a few qualities that can attest to what an exceptionally genuine person he was. Family reunions and celebratory events will not be the same without Larry’s infectious smile, undeniable humour and his love of dressing up in elaborate attire.
Larry grew up in Kirkland Lake. He graduated from Canadore College and worked as an aircraft maintenance engineer for Canadian/Okanagan Helicopters and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry respectively. He was a loyal and hard working employee who was respected by all. Co-workers and friends could always count on Larry for anything and everything. Larry valued the times he spent with his countless friends from Kirkland Lake, Bracebridge and many places in between. He loved sledding, cruising Lake Muskoka on his pontoon boat, making sausage from scratch and socializing with good friends over a Coors Light. He was always the life of the party and would light up any room with his undeniable passion for life. Larry contributed countless volunteer hours in his community. He held the Bracebridge Soccer Club, Bracebridge Minor hockey and his adult “Rink Rats” hockey team close to his heart. He could always be spotted at the field working, organizing, coaching and cheering on his teamsters. He took great pride in always giving back and helping others.
The family would like to thank the many excellent Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of the Royal Victoria, Muskoka Algonquin, Sunnybrook and St. Michael’s Hospitals for the wonderful care provided to him. A special thanks to Dr. Russell, Dr. Das, Dr. Skliarenko, Dr. Sahgal, Dr. Whynot and all of their wonderful teams. Their compassion and exceptional work will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held at a later date once restrictions are lifted. If you wish to honour him, please do something kind for your family, a friend, a neighbour, or even a stranger – because that is what Larry would do!
We will love and remember you forever…
