McNeill, Kenneth Gordon, Professor Emeritus of Physics, University of Toronto, ended his long journey with Parkinson's disease at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 in his 82nd year with his loving wife and caregiver Ruth at his side after a marriage of almost 50 years. He was the beloved father of Diane Kitchen (Glenn) and proud poppa of Carolyn, Sandra and Johnathon. He was predeceased by his brother Sir David McNeill. He obtained his M.A., D.Phil at Oxford and was particularly pleased to receive an honorary D.SL. from Trinity college and D.Ltt.S. from St Michael's College Toronto. He joined the department of Physics in 1957 and continued to teach there up until his retirement. Kenneth had varied interests. He was especially happy at the Mono farm, tending his Suffolk sheep. He loved Scotland including fly fishing, single malts and of course Scottish dancing! He also had a great affection for Australia and the good times at Melbourne Uni. He was fascinated by English History in particular Stonehenge and Heraldry. A Memorial Service will be held at St Thomas Anglican Church in Bracebridge on Thursday May 22nd, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. As your expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation or Hospice Muskoka.
