 June Doreen (Mazey) Pierre

June passed away peacefully with family by her side at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on October 7, 2023 at the age of 94.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack (2000), son Terry (Lorraine), and all of her siblings – John, George, Gladys, Laura, Doris and Bill. Loving Mother of her son, Bill, “Wink” (Linda Collins). Cherished Grandmother to Andrea (Kelly), Jeffrey, Lisa, Joseph (Lacey), Jay (Chevaunne), Stephanie (Darren), Ashley, Shaunna Collins, Tracy Collins and Scott Collins.  Special Great Grandmother to Zada, Conor, Jade, Taylor, Edison and Archer.  Aunt June will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

June was the youngest of 7 children, born in Toronto to William and Ada Mazey.  In her late teens, June was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and admitted to The Sanitarium in Gravenhurst for treatment.  During her stay she met her would-be husband Jack, a local taxi driver, when taking trips into town.  On October 13, 1948, Jack and June married and began their life together in Gravenhurst until moving to Bracebridge in 1972.

June and Jack had many business ventures over the years with the last being The Albion Hotel in Bracebridge which they operated with their two sons.  They made many great friends and acquaintances during that time.

June was very talented with Arts and Crafts.  In her retirement, when not spending the winter in Florida with Jack, she became involved with the Ladies Auxiliary at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital where many of her knitting projects were sold at the Gift Shop and Christmas Bazaars.  Her family is fortunate to have many of her pieces to treasure forever.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Pines LTC in Bracebridge for such loving care, companionship and help given to our Mom and Grandmother, over the last 3 years.

As per June’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be planned. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Pines Support Committee, c/o The Pines, 98 Pine Street Bracebridge, Ont P1L 1N5 or the charity of your choice.
