Jon Townes

February 18, 1986 – October 5, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jon Townes, a deeply loved husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, who passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 40.

Jon was the beloved husband of Nicki Townes (née Northmore), with whom he shared eight years of marriage and a life filled with love, laughter, adventure and family. Together, they built a beautiful life and a family that meant everything to him.

Above all else, Jon was an incredibly proud and devoted father to Lily and Liam. His children were among his greatest accomplishments, and the love and pride he had for them was unmistakable. Being their dad was a role he treasured, and the memories they created together will be carried with them always.

Jon was the cherished son of Paul and Diane Townes and loving brother to Matt and Sarah (Greg Whitfield). He will also be deeply missed by his grandmother, June Linssen.

Jon was a much-loved son-in-law to Mike and Deb Northmore, brother-in-law to Natalie (Tyler) Hoolans, and the very best and so very loved “Uncle Jon” to his nephews, Deacon and Porter.

Jon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his many cousins, extended family and dear friends, whose lives were touched by his presence.

Jon will be remembered for his kindness, strength, humour, work ethic, loyalty, generosity and determination.

He had an incredible wealth of knowledge and seemed to know a little something about just about everything. A natural conversationalist, Jon could talk to anyone about almost anything, always bringing his knowledge, curiosity and sense of humour to the conversation.

Jon also had a wonderfully creative side and loved crafting and making things. He was a proud Marvel fan and enjoyed the things that sparked his imagination and curiosity. Whether he was creating something, sharing an interesting fact, having a great conversation or simply making those around him laugh, Jon brought his own unmistakable personality to everything he did.

But more than anything, Jon loved his family. The life he built with Nicki and the love he had for Lily and Liam were at the centre of his world. Time spent with the people he loved—celebrating the big moments, laughing together or simply enjoying the everyday ones—meant the most to him.

Jon’s sudden passing leaves an immeasurable hole in the lives of those who loved him. While his time here was far too short, the love he gave, the laughter he shared and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends forever. His greatest legacy will live on through Lily and Liam and through all those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

Jon was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of everyone whose lives he’s touched.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 5-8pm at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 1 Mary Street, Bracebridge. Followed by a Celebration of Jon's Life on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1-4pm at Sawdust City Brewery, 397 Muskoka Road North, Gravenhurst.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Home Depot Canada Foundation as well as The South Muskoka Memorial Foundation.
