Terry passed away peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital, in Toronto, on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the age of 69. Terry was surrounded by his family, after a four year battle with cancer.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, of 35 years, Lorraine; daughters Andrea (Kelly), Lisa, Stephanie (Darren), and Ashley; granddaughter Zada; his mother June; and by his brother Wink (Linda). Terry was the special Gramps to his “fur grandkids” - Lou, Tillie and Birdie, who adored him as much as he did them. Terry was predeceased by his father, Jack.
Terry was born in Bracebridge and raised in Gravenhurst. He later moved to Bracebridge in his adult years. Terry had a variety of different careers in his life - owner and operator of the Albion Hotel, in Bracebridge alongside his parents and brother, owner/cabinet maker of Pierson's Cabinets, and Northern Buildall now known as Rona.
Terry was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends. He loved anything that had to do with the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, sports, four-wheeling, and in his younger years, scuba diving. He was part of the Bracebridge Albion Hotel Sports Association, spent many years playing hockey with The Old Wicks hockey team, and playing recreational baseball. He also had a love for woodworking. However, his most favourite place of all was the cottage, more commonly known as “The Spa”. He took every opportunity to spend time up there - exploring logging trails, enjoying a beverage or two, and making memories with those he loved in the place he loved most.
The family extends a special thanks to nurse Stephanie, of Paramed, who provided outstanding care to Terry at home throughout his cancer journey, as well as Mount Sinai Hospital and Henneck Bridgepoint Hospital who provided exceptional care and support in his last few months.
We are forever grateful to Terry’s oncologists, Dr. Jason Yu, and Dr. Christiaan Stevens of the RVH Cancer Care Program who gave us the greatest gift of all, which was time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Terry’s memory, to the RVH Cancer Care Program - Barrie, Muskoka OSPCA, or to a charity of your choice. As per Terry’s wishes cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life, in true Terry fashion - jeans and a t-shirt, will happen in the spring.
