John Froggatt

John Froggatt died peacefully at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family, at Andy’s House hospice, on August 10th, 2026.

Born in Birmingham, England, on January 21, 1935, to George and Lilian (nee Bovill) Froggatt, John came to Canada in 1957 with his wife Joyce and their newborn daughter to begin a new life together. He went on to build a successful career as an electrical engineer and, with Joyce, a wonderful life and family in Canada.

John was predeceased by Joyce Lillian (née Scyner), his beloved wife of 60 years, and by his brother Ted of Birmingham, England. He was a treasured father to Jill Dixon (Murray), Lynn Clunis (Greg), and Neil Froggatt (Clare), and will be lovingly remembered by his special friend Helen. He was a cherished grandfather to Temerra, Erik, Andrew, Beverly, Rosina, Matthew, and Aidan, and great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren.

Those who knew John will remember his kind nature, quiet sense of humour, and calm, level-headed approach to life. Rarely one to be rattled, he was a steady presence for his family, although the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren could occasionally bring a tear to his eye.

John had a lifelong love of dancing, particularly ballroom and square dancing, and spent many happy hours on the dance floor. Above all, he took great pride in his family and the life he and Joyce built together.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 1 Mary Street, Bracebridge, on Saturday, August 22nd, from 1-2pm with his Celebration of Life Service at 2pm. Reception to follow.

John’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to the caring staff at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital and Andy’s House for the kindness and compassion shown to John and his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in John’s memory be made to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation or Andy’s House.
