Jack (John Henry) Clarke

January 27, 1930 – June 26, 2024

On June 26, 2024 Jack (John Henry) Clarke passed away at Andy’s House in Port Carling in his 94th year.

Loving husband to the late Margaret (Meg) Clarke (nee Jarrett). Cherished father to Susan Milburn, Stephen (Julie) Clarke, Timothy Clarke and Nicholas Clarke. Beloved grandfather to Kate, Jennifer, Anna, Tim, Jillian, James, Griffin and much adored great-grandfather (GGPop) to Henry. Son to the late Herbert and Flora Clarke of Petries (Corner Brook) Newfoundland.

Jack was born January 27th, 1930 at Petries, Newfoundland, now part of the city of Corner Brook. After completing his school education Jack moved to Ontario in May of 1949. A few years later he met Margaret Dora (Meg) Jarrett in Renfrew Ontario and they married there on August 1, 1953.

After raising 4 children in Deep River and Bracebridge and after a long a long career in Business Administration and Facilities Management, Jack retired from the Muskoka Board of Education in 1991.

In 1985 Jack and Meg moved from Bracebridge to Utterson, Ontario where Jack continued to live after Meg’s passing in 2005 until 2011. After living for a while with his granddaughter Jennifer, he moved to the James Street Retirement residence where he lived for the rest of his life.

Jack will be remembered by those that met him for his propensity for cracking a joke (some not to be repeated!), the grin on his face and the twinkle in his eye.

Jack’s family would like to thank all of the staff at the James Street Residence for all of their support and friendship over the years and the staff at Andy’s House Hospice in Port Carling for the care and compassion they showed for both Jack and his family in his final days. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Andy’s House in his name.

As per Jack’s request there will be no funeral. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.reynoldsfuneral.com
