Jeffery Lenard Golding

1961 — 2025

Gravenhurst

It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the passing of Jeffery (Jeff) Golding. With family by his side at South Muskoka Hospital on June 26, 2025. Jeff passed following complications due to a stroke. Jeff was in his 64th year.

Predeceased by his mother Audrey. Survived by his father Lenard, sister Jodi (Bryan), brother Mike (Keri), Uncle to Luke (Jen), Hannah (Matt), and Connor. Grand nieces and nephews Khenlee, Ridge, Everlee and Hazel. Jeff will be deeply missed by his roommates, and Tara Prout, who cared for him for over 24 years and other workers at his home.

A beloved son, brother and uncle, Jeff lived a life shaped by profound developmental challenges. Jeff was nonverbal and required full-time care throughout his life. Though he never spoke, he filled a room with his presence. To be a part of his world, family and friends who loved Jeff, found their own world enriched.

Jeff’s life was not easy, and his final days were especially hard. But his life was filled with moments of connection that defied words—the shared glances, his mischievous laughter, his enjoyment of music, visiting family out at the farm, mom’s cooking and rides in the truck with dad. He enjoyed the many excursions with his friends at Community Living and his favourite chair to watch all the action. He had the comfort of being known and loved just as he was.

Jeff’s life was quiet, but meaningful. He taught those around him about patience, presence, and the deep bonds that can exist.

The family extends their gratitude to South Muskoka Community Living staff, specifically Tara Prout, for her care, compassion, and support for Jeff over many years. Her commitment to Jeff brought much comfort to his family. Also, thanks go to the compassionate care provided recently by Dr. Lees and Nurses at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital.

In remembrance of Jeff, the family encourages quiet acts of kindness toward those who live with disabilities and the families who walk beside them and in lieu of flowers, a donation to South Muskoka Community Living https://www.clsm.on.ca/donations/ in Jeff’s name would be greatly appreciated.

A service and a celebration of life is being planned for a later time
