It is with heavy hearts the Brown family announces the sudden death of James Joseph Brown at his home in Port Carling, in his 67th year. Jim was born in Bracebridge, on August 31, 1954. He spent his entire life in Port Carling and made many lifetime friends. In his youth, he loved to play hockey and was known as a rugged defenceman who never shied away from the rough stuff. Jim worked for several family members, in the construction business, and ended up taking over “Dunc Brown Contracting,” carrying on the good work ethics of his brother. He was the ninth of nine children born to Roy and Almeda Brown. Jim is survived by Mervyn (Marjorie), Bessie (George), Clayton (Marnie), John (Dianne), Edith (Bill), and his sister-in-law Jean and partner Angie. Predeceased by his sister Mary, and brothers Daniel, and Duncan. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle Jim.”
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place when it is safe to do so.
Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge, or to a charity of your choice and may be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be shared at www.reynoldsfuneral.com.
