With sadness we grieve for her, with laughter we remember her.
Ivie May Kathleen Banks Henry passed away on May 18, 2022. She will be unimaginably missed by her children Steven Henry (Yolande), Linda Finch (Trevor) and Susan Wilson (Chris), as well as her grandchildren Shaun, Scott, Saskia, Kyle, Nicole, their spouses and her ten great-grandchildren.
Ivie was born in North Bay on July 31, 1925, the day before North Bay was granted city status. Ivie always liked to take credit for that, stating her birth put them over the population requirement for city status. She was born with her sense of humour fully formed and her children reveled in the joy she found in every occasion.
She was raised in the miracle of the Banks family. Her parents were Ray Wellington Banks, originally from Durham, Ontario and Margaret May Patterson, originally from Kemptville, Ontario. Ivie was predeceased by her beloved brothers and sisters, Gladys, Jean, William, Kendrick and Dora. A family rooted in love and laughter whose legacy was love, hope and always, a sense of humor.
Ivie met the love of her life, Frank Henry, in 1951, when she was working as a bookkeeper for a bakery in North Bay, and Frank was hired as the bakery’s new route manager. Frank, recognizing a kindred spirit and a good thing when he saw it, asked her to the movies the week they met. The rest is history. A history we are very thankful for. They married in 1953 and settled in Bracebridge. Originally living at Stephens Bay on Lake Muskoka, they moved into town and lived on the fabled Aubrey Street, before building their dream home on Liddard Street. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before Frank's passing in 2001. Ivie was residing at James Street Retirement Residence at the time of her passing.
The family wish to thank the marvelous staff at James Street for their care and kindness to Ivie and to the whole family throughout her time there. They went beyond all expectations.
The funeral will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Bracebridge on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Visitation will take place at the church, prior to the funeral from 1 - 1:30, Funeral Mass will be from 1:30 - 2:30, Internment to follow.
As your expression of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorial gifts to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice and can be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories can be shared at www.reynoldsfuneral.com.
