Harold Foulkes

April 10, 1923 — August 11, 2021

Bracebridge, Ontario

Passed away at The Pines Long Term Care Home in his 99th year.

Harold is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Linda Moses (Jim); granddaughters, Heather Cermak and Ashley Thompson; step grandson, Michael Moses; great grandsons, Quinton and Mason Cermak and step great grandson, Ares Moses. He was predeceased by his son, Doug, and his sister, Annett Fraser (Don). Harold will also be dearly missed by his sister-in-law, Reta Simkin (Don) and his two nephews, Wayne (Annette) and Brian (Debbie) as well as extended family and friends.

Harold was born on the family farm at the end of Brackenrig Centre Road, where he lived a rich and contented life caring for the family, the bush and the farm. He also gained many friends and a wealth of experience in the work that he performed off the farm as well.

As a deeply devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he was well known for his patient, gentle manner, valuing nothing more than spending time in the company of each generation in turn, telling stories, sharing his skills and experience and joyfully participating in whatever adventure was being developed. If it involved horses or skating - all the better, as he firmly believed in the phrase, “The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a person.” and he felt that skating put wings on your heels.

Our deepest gratitude to the staff at The Pines, particularly the staff of Spruce and Birch Units who cared for my dad so lovingly and so well. Our thanks as well to Dr. Liang Liao and his staff for their many years of expertise, Dr. Victoria Dechert for her care and support at The Pines as well as Dr. Rhee for his wise counsel.

There will be no service at this time, but a gathering will be held at a later date.
