It is with broken hearts that we wish to announce the passing of George Stephen (Steve) Harper at Andy's House in Port Carling on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in his 91st year.
Dad was born on February 3, 1936 in Bracebridge. He was the only child of George Harper and Voy (Stephens) of Stephens Bay. He was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his four children, Phyllis (Goltz).
Left to mourn the loss of a husband, father, and grandfather, are his wife Bernice, his daughters Suzanne Harper of Bracebridge, Marilyn (Robert) Moyes of London, his sons Wesley Harper of Guelph, and Russell Harper of Bracebridge. He is also survived by his grandsons Maxwell (Paméla) Harper, of Saint-Lambert, PQ, and Jacob Harper of Waterloo. Dad also leaves behind his step-daughters Bonnie Weeks and Melinda (Ken) Kinkade, four step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Dad lived his entire life in Stephens Bay, Bracebridge. He was a carpenter and farmer, and a life-long volunteer with the Bracebridge Fall Fair and Agricultural Society. He received the Ontario Senior of the Year Award in 2013 in recognition of his many years of volunteerism.
Dad has been cremated and as per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Andy's House in Port Carling for their care and compassion during Dad's final days.
If you wish to remember Dad, donations may be made to Andy's House in Port Carling, or to the Bracebridge Agricultural Society.
Rest in peace Dad. We will miss you lots.
