In Loving Memory of George Francis DeCaire.

It is with profound sadness, the family of George Francis DeCaire announces his passing. For 49 years, George was the devoted husband and partner of Mary (née Kotva).

He was the proud father of Corey (Erin O’Leary) and Jordan (Lianne), and the proudest grandfather to Kellen, Owen, and Everett. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his brothers Darrell (Gail) and Michael (Gloria), sister-in-law Catherine Cooper (Gerry), brother-in-law Dave Kotva (Karen), and a treasured circle of nieces and nephews.

Born in Bracebridge and a proud member of the Wahta Mohawks, George spent nearly his entire life rooted in Bala and Bracebridge, save for five years lived in Alberta. A skilled Master Electrician, he carried on a proud family legacy working alongside his brothers at Muskoka Rural Electric, founded by his father in 1948.

Nothing meant more to George than family. Whether traveling together across Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, or gathering at the cabin on Joe Franks Lake in Bala, his happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people he loved. He had a passion for anything with an engine—from his truck, Mustang, and Harley, to getting to work with his tractor and backhoe.

Remembered by his large circle of close friends for his kindness, loyalty, and quiet generosity, George was a natural listener who loved learning the life stories of others. His quick wit, sharp sense of humour, and warm spirit enriched the lives of all who knew him—just as they enriched his.

Please join us for a Celebration of George’s life, on Saturday, September 19th at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre, 56 Salmon Ave., Bracebridge, from 1-4 pm. Words of remembrance at 2:30pm. George was never one for fuss or formality, so casual attire is encouraged.

Memorial donations to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Manna Food Bank Bracebridge would be greatly appreciated.
