Fredrick John Wray

January 30, 1943 — August 7, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dad, Fredrick John Wray on August 7th, 2025, in his 82nd year. He is predeceased by his mother and father, John Andrew Wray known as Andy and Elizabeth Gertrude Wray (nee Skilliter) known as Bessie. Fred is survived by his wife Margaret Wray (nee McEachran).

He will be missed by his Children, Beverly-Anne Payton (nee Wray), Tammy Cooper, John Fredrick Wray, Paul Robert Wray, Farrah-Lee DeCaire (nee Wray).

All his Grandchildren Sarah-Lynn Payton, Krista-Anne Kruger, Jennifer Perreault, Kira Reuser, Joshua Wray, William Wray, James Wray, Dustin Sommerville, David Kennedy, Crystal May Poirier, Samantha DeRose; and his eighteen Great Grandchildren.

Survived by his brothers, Burton Wray and Half-brother Bud Sawyer.

He was a member of the Bracebridge Legion and the Pipe band, playing the bagpipes was his passion till he couldn’t do it anymore.

He was an active member of the Langley Legion. In his prime playing the bagpipes, he was in the Ontario Mass Legion Pipes and Drums. I remember going with him to the Ferguson Highland games and watching him play.

Another passion was looking into his telescope, searching for life in the vast sky.

He was born and raised in Milford Bay, Ontario, he always talked about his shenanigans. An example, when he was younger, he went in the house and showed my grandmother what was in his pockets. He said to her “orms” (worms), “mommy, orms”. They were snakes.

He was a Jovial, kindhearted man. Always good for a bit of laughter.

If asked how he was, he would always say 60/40.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kerr Park Chalet, 130 Beaumont Drive, Bracebridge on Saturday, September 20th from 1pm to 4pm. Come and share a memory or two and raise your glass in a toast.

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone their light remains.”
