FOULKES, Elizabeth Marion (nee Penney)

May 15, 1928 - November 1, 2023

Passed away at The Pines Long Term Care Home, in her 96th year. Betty is predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Harold Foulkes, and, sadly, their son, Doug.

Surviving her are daughter, Linda Moses (Jim); granddaughters, Heather Cermak, and Ashley Thompson; great-grandsons, Quinton, and Mason Cermak; step-grandson, Michael Moses, and step-great-grandson, Ares Moses; Betty's sister, Reta Simkin (Don) and nephews, Wayne Simkin (Annette) and Brian Simkin (Debbie) and great nieces, Baley and Zoey Simkin. She will be sadly missed by extended family and friends.

Betty's early years were spent at Shennamere Farm, her family home on Arthurlie Bay near Port Carling. This necessitated rowing, by herself, across Brackenrig Bay to attend the Brackenrig School. No wonder my mother was a strong, independent person.

In 1950 Betty crossed the bay again to begin married life with Harold at Foulkes Farm. She was a busy, community-minded woman - active and involved in both Port Carling and Brackenrig as well as caring for her family.

Gathering family and friends together was Mom's great pleasure and my parents were well known for their warmth and hospitality, whether it be the Brackenrig Community Picnic, held each year at the farm, a cup of tea and homemade cookies shared with those who stopped by for a visit or the other events, large and small, that came along over the years.

Betty's wish was to be cremated and interred, along with Harold and Doug, at the Ufford Cemetery next year.

Our sincere thanks go out to the staff of The Pines who cared for Mom with loving kindness and to Dr. Victoria Dechert who was diligent in her care.

In memory of Betty, please make memorial donations to The Pines Long Term Care Home, St. James Anglican Church in Port Carling, or the charity of your choice. This can be arranged through Reynolds Funeral Home. Online Condolences can be made at www.reynoldsfuneral.com.
