Elaine Mason

Elaine passed away at Muskoka Landing in Huntsville, ON, Saturday afternoon; July 4, 2026.

Born in Montreal, she grew up in Erindale, Ontario where she began her teaching career, mainly grades 3 & 4.

After living and teaching in B.C for 12 years, she retired in 2001 and moved to Muskoka. It seems that she then hit her stride, getting heavily involved in Hospice, Probus, The United Church and the Women’s Institute.

Working to rebuild Biloxi Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina occupied her time and talents for the best part of a year.

She quietly excelled at every task to which she lent herself.

Elaine leaves behind 5 children, Matt Leahy (Sabine), Mark Leahy (Janice), Beth Leahy, Holly Mason (Skyler), Michael Mason and 12 grandchildren.

Lastly, she left behind her Husband Derek, who loved her the way she deserved to be loved… completely.

A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Church, 290 Muskoka Rd North, Gravenhurst, Ontario, Friday July 17th at 11:00am. A reception will follow.
