Bracebridge

It's with our saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia Tomlinson on Friday, May 31, 2024, in her 90th year. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Jack Tomlinson, her parents Albert William Holloway and Violet (Hillman) Holloway, her sister Fanny Elaine Eddy, her brother Sheldon Hillman Holloway and her nieces Caren Eddy and Cheryl Eddy. Virginia was a wonderful aunt to Cathy Morrow, Bill Holloway (Kerri), Cindy Eddy (Eric Horner), and Reid Eddy. She was the great-aunt to Denise Holloway (Shaun) Derek Holloway (Deanna) Eric Horner Jr. (Abbey) Taylor Gerrits (Mitch) and Morgyn Taylor (John) and the great great aunt to Noelle Stephens, Callia, and Brynlee Horner, and Michael Taylor Hope. She will also be sadly missed by Giannina Holloway and June Sartoretto.

Virginia was not a stranger to the Muskoka area having spent most of her childhood summers staying at her grandparent's farm in Milford Bay. Growing up in Toronto where she spent most of her life and career, summers were spent at the family cottage in Milford Bay spending time with her siblings and their families. Later on, when Virginia married Jack, many years were spent traveling abroad and enjoying the many places they saw together. They would take time from their busy lives in Toronto and spend every weekend they could at their cottage in Walkers Point. Her love of Muskoka was embedded in her heart. In 2018 Virginia made the decision to make Muskoka her permanent home. She moved into Castle Peak Retirement Home into a beautiful suite with a patio where she spent hours watching the birds and feeding the squirrels and chipmunks, sitting outside in her Muskoka chair enjoying the wildlife that came by and enjoying art class where she turned out to be a better artist than any of us knew. She truly had a wonderful life. We will all miss her smile, her sense of humour and her caring ways. Now that you have your wings, fly high like a bird Virginia to be with all the family and friends that flew before you.

At the request of Virginia, there will be no service or celebration of life.

Donations can be made in memory of Virginia to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Bracebridge Hospital Foundation.
