Donald S. Oliver

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Donald S Oliver on Saturday July 25, 2026 at the age of 91. Don is predeceased by his loving wife Joan (nee Collacutt), son Mark, sister Delores, and parents Jim and Edna Oliver. He is survived by his sons Glen (Carolyn) and Cory, and granddaughters Kaitlyn and Emma.

Family was at the core of everything important to him, as witnessed by the extended Campbell, Collacutt and Reid clans who he cherished greatly.

Don was extremely proud to have been “born and raised” in Port Carling, Ontario and although he raised his own family in Toronto, Muskoka has been his lifelong home. Don first left Port Carling to live and play hockey in Kitchener, goaltending for the 1953-54 Ontario Junior B Champion Waterloo Siskins before embarking on a distinguished professional hockey career in the Eastern Hockey League in the U.S. and Den Haag in The Netherlands. Returning to Toronto he successfully owned and operated Collacutt Luggage Ltd and Collacutt Travel Ltd for more than 30 years before retiring back in Bracebridge, Muskoka. Don was an extremely active and passionate community volunteer. Especially for North York General Hospital in Toronto, and Habitat for Humanity in Bracebridge. He very proudly helped establish The Wall mural in Port Carling to beautify and promote his hometown. When not working or with family, he could be found at Donalda Club where he was an active board member and President in 1992, and at his beloved Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club where he had so many close friends. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club on Saturday, August 15, from 2pm-5pm. A second visitation will be held (date to be determined) at the Donalda Club in Toronto in September for those unable to attend up north.
