Constance "Connie" Cain

October 19, 1940 — September 10, 2025

Bracebridge

Just in time to dance together on their 65th wedding anniversary.

It is with broken hearts yet cherished memories we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Connie Cain. She spent her final days with family and the best care and most compassionate nurses and doctors at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, to whom, we are eternally indebted.

Born on October 19, 1940, in Gaspé Québec, as Constance Opal Kruse, Connie, as she was called, married Irvin Cain on September 10, 1960, and was reunited with him on their 65th wedding anniversary, September 10, 2025.

Mom is survived by her two sons, Cary (Ruthann) and David (Wendy).

Honorary daughter and her earthly angel, Margo.

Three grandchildren, Ryan (Alana), Brodie (Sydnie), and Gillian (Rylan).

Two great grandsons, Reef and Benton.

And her great granddaughter, Indie, who blessed us on her Great Namie and Great Papa’s 64th wedding anniversary and will gently remind us every year of their love and legacy.

Mom was over-the-moon at the announcement of her 4th great grandchild arriving in February 2026.

Mom is also survived by her sisters, Shirley and Lois (Frank) along with several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Margaret, brother Jim (Sheila), sister Jean (Charlie), and brother-in-law, Merton.

From knitting to cleaning, gardening to cooking, Mom’s well-manicured hands were never still.

She loved to host and feed her family and friends.

We dare you to find a better gingersnap cookie or apple pie.

Her home was decorated for every season and each holiday.

And the good china donned the table for every meal with family and friends.

She loved shopping with her sisters and playing cards with her friends.

She was creative and crafty, loved to play games, and stayed busy doing puzzles.

In quiet moments she loved to read or catch up with The Young and the Restless.

She was a member of many things, but most notably the Windermere Women’s Institute and the Red Hats Society.

Mom was a hairdresser in her early days before moving to Ontario where she and Dad owned and operated the Raymond General Store for many years.

Never far from each other, Irvin and Connie were active in the community. From organizing shows at the Raymond Hall to raising money together for Terry Fox and the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Mom loved the colour pink and was always dressed to the nines in pink or something colourful. Even when working in the garden or baking in the kitchen, her outfits were well curated, and she never had a hair out of place.

She loved to dress up in costumes and was always ready for a good time.

Mom, you now live where there is no diabetes.

No heart disease

No cancer.

No more poking. No more needles. No more hospital stays.

We are sure you are redecorating heaven and baking up a storm; the rest of the angels have never been this well fed. Save us some gingersnaps, for when we see you again.

Please join us to share memories and celebrate Connie’s life well-lived. If you feel comfortable, pink or other bright coloured attire is welcomed.
